Thank you!
Hello Sewing Friends and Happy New Year!
As we start a new year and have new members, there are several things I would like to share with you!
A little history about the Sewing Ministry: About 6 years ago, I felt an urging from God to start a sewing ministry at Monument Hill Church. He laid upon my heart the story of Tabitha. “She was always doing good and helping the poor” (Acts 9:36 NIV). I felt like God was asking me to do the same for Him, so the idea of having a regular sewing time was born. Every year this has looked a little different, projects have changed and ministries have changed but what I have tried to maintain is a regular scheduled time to sew and the first Saturday of the month was dedicated to this. Sometimes this falls on or near a holiday, and sometimes it ends up getting cancelled. My desire is for it to be consistent so you will know what to expect and can plan accordingly. If at any time you have a question or concern, please contact me. If you would like to teach a class or offer input, I welcome that as well. I will be sending out information pertaining to the Sewing Ministry monthly only. Margaret will be sending out information about String of Pearls. Both will be listed on our schedule, please see the schedule below for times & dates; all classes will be held at MHC. My contact information is: Lashelle Brown: (719)351-3213 (cell), (719)488-9643 (home) or lashellebrown@hotmail.com
String of Pearls: about 2 years ago after a presentation from the String of Pearls coordinator, Margaret Althouse felt a calling to head up this project and has done an amazing job at creating a quilt that is easy to make and becomes a beautiful keepsake for grieving parents. Margaret will be sending out emails for this project and all questions should be sent directly to her. We will meet on some Saturdays, please see the schedule below for dates. Margaret will let you know about additional dates and times. Her contact information is: Margaret Althouse: (719)237-1852 or margaretalthouse@gmail.com
Other Opportunities: • If you don’t sew but would like to help, we can always use people to cut fabric and iron :o) • Palmer Divide Quiltmakers Guild: meets once a month on the first Thursday at MHC at 7:00 pm, with a social time at 6:30 (dates are not listed on this schedule). For more information contact Juli Overton (719)963-6633 or juli_overton@yahoo.com
I am excited about the sewing times we have scheduled so far this year. I think each of you will find something that will peak your interest and allow you to participate where you feel led. We are looking at doing several things this year:
• String of Pearls-making baby quilts for the perinatal hospice group • MHC Sewing Ministry-making Lap Quilts for our members who need to be “covered in prayer,” Learning New Projects (bring a sack lunch & plan for a longer stay). These projects are perfect for the beginning quilter/sewer and the seasoned quilter/sewer as well, we will also have an occasional Get Together to sew and fellowship, or a possible outing

Lashelle Eph. 4:11-13 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
