We live in an age in which most anyone with a laptop and an idea can pound out a book (or two). Even in evangelical circles, this potential for production threatens to overwhelm us. With so many books out there, what should we read? As those who have encountered Bunyan, Spurgeon, Stott, Packer, and Piper, we would be remiss if we did not commend such works to others. MHC thus offers recommendations that we trust will draw many more readers to a deeper love for the Author of life Himself.
Pastor Tom has edited a list compiled by Dr. Mark Dever and his staff at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. Dr. Dever gave Pastor Tom a shorter list in 1997, and he is still working through many of these titles. We will publish a short list now and a more exhaustive list in coming weeks. This should get you started! Pastor Tom owns many of these books, and he is happy to let you borrow these pages of gold. Just ask him!
